Celebrate Ferragosto with us!
This coming Sunday 16th August, we (and 69 Colebrooke Row) will be celebrating Ferragosto. Ferragosto is an Italian public holiday celebrated on 15 August, coinciding with the major Catholic feast of the Assumption of Mary. Many churches in Italy believe that August 15 is the day that God assumed the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her life. However, its origins date further back to pre-Christian times when August 15 was a Pagan holiday. The Catholic church later adopted this date to commemorate the belief of Mary’s assumption into heaven. The celebrations usually involve processions of people carrying the statue of Jesus’ mother Mary in many towns and cities.
This years celebrations commence from Midday onwards at Termini. Ferragosto will also mark the release of our new drink - Negroni Robusto and to really celebrate in style we will be giving out miniatures to those of who join us this sunday!
The day will continue on at 69 Colebrooke Row from 5pm, where a menu of classic Italian drinks and snacks will be offered.
